Each week over 1,000 families in our region seek assistance from local foodbanks and meal programs. While canned and packaged goods are a mainstay, fresh fruits and vegetables are often absent from the shelves. That’s where you and Backyard Harvest team up to help! By collecting and pooling the extra produce from dozens of small neighborhood gardens, Backyard Harvest seeks to keep those shelves stocked all summer long.
Since 2007, the Central Coast chapter of Backyard Harvest has strived to distribute enough fresh produce to meet the needs of local families visiting area food banks. So plant some extra seeds with others in mind and register your fruit trees for gleaning by our volunteers. Your neighbors will appreciate sharing the bounty of your harvest.
