Join Backyard Harvest's growing collective of over 125 small residential communty farms that have so far contributed over 33,000 lbs of produce. Backyard Harvest will come with volunteers, ladders and all tools necessary to capture the fruit before it falls to the ground and goes to waste. Not only is Backyard Harvest fully insured, but all donated food is covered under The Good Samaritan Food Donation Act, therefore eliminating all liability to the property owner. A tax deductable receipt is give for the donation. The produce is then distributed through the Unity Shoppe therefore turning waste into healthy nutrition for our in-need neighbors. Grab your cargo bike, trailer, rack & panniers and help deliver food by bicycle. Backyard Harvest has collected 20,000 lbs of fresh produce from vendors at the Farmers Market. Meet at Wheelhouse @ 528 Anacapa and help pedal some of this much needed produce to various downtown agencies serving in-need residents. Join us and get your free BYH t-shirt. |
