Each week over 1,000 families in our region seek assistance from local food pantries and meal programs. While canned and packaged goods are a mainstay, fresh fruits, vegetables and eggs are often absent from the shelves. The good news is that our community has the resources to provide healthy, locally-grown foods to seniors and families in need.

Since 2006, Backyard Harvest has collected over 65,000 lbs of fruits & vegetables mostly grown in small patches and on forgotten trees in backyards across the region. With the help of dozens of volunteers, we have gathered and gleaned, so that now 18 area food pantries and meal programs receive locally grown produce from May to November.

This year we hope to collect even more. So please consider joining our efforts to provide healthy options for needy families and the elderly across the Palouse.
