Through our Community Orchard program, we pick thousands of pounds of fresh local fruit. Volunteers who participate can take home some of their harvest for themselves and their family. Explore the beauty of our region and help your neighbors in need at the same time!

Over the last ten years, we have registered over 650 residential fruit trees, berry patches and grape vines across the Palouse and LC Valley. With the help of a small but dedicated staff and lots of volunteers, we glean and distribute apples, cherries, grapes, pears, plums, and more each season.

Do you have a fruit tree that is mostly feeding the birds or want to share the bounty of your veggie patch?

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Gleaning: Join us for a gleaning trip! We rely on our volunteers to help pick all kinds of produce around the Palouse and LC Valley; whether you’re new to gleaning or are a seasoned picker, we’d love to have you! Gleaning activities typically run June to November.

Gleaning Leaders: Our volunteer gleaning leaders are trained to lead teams of volunteer pickers on regularly-scheduled gleaning trips. Volunteers for this position should have great interpersonal skills, be able to work outside for several hours at a time, have a valid driver’s license, and be able to lift 30 or more pounds. Check out the application below!

Distribution: Our distribution volunteers ensure that the produce we collect gets to those who need it. Routes are available around the Palouse on weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly schedules. Volunteers for this position should have regular access to a vehicle and be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
